A Cross Canada Parkinson's Journey
A coast to coast cycling event in support of Canadians living with Parkinson’s Disease.
What we are doing
Canada is a big country. It is home to over 100,000 people living with Parkinson’s disease, 9 in 10 of which suffer in silence, isolation, or without the support of a knowledgeable organization or community.
Why we are doing it
You have probably heard of Parkinson’s Disease. You may even know people who suffer from it. Get used to it, as Parkinson’s disease is the world’s fastest growing neurological condition, set to double in number by 2040.
Parkinson’s Disease has no cure.
Our best medicine to help manage our symptoms was developed in 1960.
Carbidopa/levodopa is the combination of the two medications carbidopa and levodopa. It is primarily used to manage the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, but it does not slow down the disease or stop it from getting worse.
Common side effects include movement problems and nausea. More serious side effects include depression, low blood pressure with standing, sudden onset of sleepiness, psychosis, and increased risk- taking behavior.

And this is the best we have. Spinning Wheels!
We have constructed this “Dopameter” to illustrate how much Carbidopa/levodopa Jim, Steve and Mike consume to be able to function on this journey.
The regular Levodopa/Carbidopa 100/25 Mg and the CR or slow-release version will be included.
This Meter does not include any other medications taken to manage their symptoms. These medications include, but are not limited to: Azilect, Citalopram, Clonazepam, Ropinirole, Rotiginol, Entacapone, Mirapex, Selegiline, or Amantadi.
Our Goal is to raise more Dollars for Parkinson’s than the Milligrams of Carbidopa/levodopa required by us to complete the journey!
